In February 2010 Symbiont contracted me to design and develop a sample training programme as part of a tender.
My job was to write the HTML, CSS and create several Flash interactivities to a tight budget and deadline.
For the HTML and CSS I took elements from SITO’s current web site and incorporated them with the course content. I fixed up a few issues they currently had and double checked it for browser compatibility.
For the Flash interactivities I wrote all of the actionscript in AS3. Wherever possible I put all actionscript on the first frame to minimise any spaghetti code.
I received very positive feedback about the oxygen level interactivity. This interactivity simply shows a student the effects temperature and salinity have on oxygen levels in water. Two sliders on the left are used by the student to change its corresponding variable. This affects the readout on the right and the rate at which the fish swims.
